Reality TV

"Pinoy Pop Superstar", "Star Struck", "Star Circle Quest” and the famous "Pinoy Big Brother" are some of the reality tv shows known here in the Philippines. We may say to ourselves when we watch these programs that it’s "REAL LIFE". Totoo nga ba ang mga napapanuod 'nyo? Hmmm… teka lang… siguro nga?! The real parts of your life are the parts that people cannot see. You can pretend that everything’s all right but that’s not reality. The participants of these programs are trying to persuade people how they actually live. Pero ang totoo, ang iba sa kanila ay nagpapanggap lang at hindi yun ang totoo nilang personalities. Let’s say you are one of the participants and you are voted out, will you not think that your reality show is finished? Alam mo ba kung ano ang totoo? The truth is: there is One audience that is watching over all of us. His television set is glued to your heart. He knows your innermost thoughts, the deepest parts that others cannot see. But God says, "Looks aren't everything. Don't be impressed with looks. God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the physical appearance; God looks into the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7

  1. Really appreciated this post! We get so wrapped up in “being entertained” with TV, video games, movies, malls, and junk that we forget real life are the people sitting next to us. What God sees in us.

  2. True true! Being in a reality show myself I can attest to this! When the lights fade and you’re alone in your bed at night, with no cameras around… there’s only One that sees the deepest parts of your heart.

  3. It’s a relief knowing that we can always be ourselves if we have in our minds that it’s really God alone whom we should only please.. There’s no pressure in doing that because we know that God loves us just the way we are without pretensions.
